Music school Warsaw: Professors Concert in Fangorówka 2014

The present concert season in our Music School in Warsaw begun early. The first concert took place on 4 October 2014 and it was for the first time that performing forces were not our pupils but our teachers. Thus it was the great opportunity for our students to hear their professors on the concert stage. The concert was dedicated to all our pupils, students and friends of our Music School.

The sunny afternoon provided a perfect background for the two half-recitals. In the first half of the concert Professor Zofia Zwolińska played the Allemanda from Partita No. 2 in D minor for solo violin BWV 1004 by Johann Sebastian Bach, Pieśń polska (Polish Song) by Henryk Wieniawski and Concertino by Grażyna Bacewicz. In the works by Wieniawski and Bacewicz Professor Zwolińska was joined on stage by the pianist Romuald Matecki.

In the second part of the concert Professor Magda Lewandowska performed Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante in E flat major op. 22 by Fryderyk Chopin.

The compère for the concert was Berenika Pietraga.

The audience gathered not only in the hall but also outside, as there were benches available in the garden and the sunny weather allowed for enjoying the concert from the beautiful garden. The rich repertoire and competent performances were very well-received by the listeners.

The concert took place in Fangorówka, the villa (or, if you prefer, a manor house) located in the beautiful surroundings of Botanic Garden in Powsin. Both the nature and the art (as there was an exhibition of landscape paintings in the manor) provided the perfect background for the music.

Thanks to the invitation of Professor Jerzy Puchalski, Director of Botanic Garden, Fangorówka will host the future concerts of our School, including the forthcoming event that will take place on 5 November 2014.
